Tyrone D.
Smith
February 7, 1978 – January 9, 2023
Our beloved, Tyrone DeShawn Smith, departed this earthly life at his residence on Monday, January 2, 2023, at the age of 44. His family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.
Tyrone was born on February 7, 1978, in Denver, Colorado, to Texas native Brenda Kay Hayes. After graduating from George Washington High school, he attended Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, and he then transferred to Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.
Tyrone spent his free time helping others. He was very knowledgeable when it came to fixing something. Tyrone first found his love for hospitality when he started his career at the Magnolia Hotel as a maintenance tech in Houston, Texas. He then transferred his job and moved back to Denver, Colorado. In 2017 he finally had the opportunity to pursue his dream career in the criminal justice system, where he worked as a community correctional officer at ICCS (Intervention). There he was able to be a mentor to many young men. He was loved by the staff and respected by the inmates. He was indeed one of a kind. In 2019 Tyrone left the Magnolia Hotel after more than 10 years of service and ICCS to pursue a significant career opportunity as a maintenance engineer. Tyrone was very talented and made an impact on anyone that he encountered. Anyone who knew Tyrone would say he was always respectful, hardworking and a man of his word. Tyrone loved his family, and it showed by his actions
While the family and friends are shocked by his death, they are thankful for his life. Tyrone was a quiet soul who relished the simple pleasures of life. He was determined to overcome any obstacles because failure was not an option for him. Tyrone was very knowledgeable and stayed current on local and world news and loved to talk politics and social issues with his loved ones.
Tyrone was predeceased by his mother, Brenda Kay Hayes, his grandmother Verda Smith, and grandfather, Alton Smith, Sr.
Tyrone is survived and missed by his sister Rotishia N. Hayes, brother Christopher D. Hayes, both of Topeka Kansas, his aunts, Betty J Pope of Brookshire, Texas, and Verdell Veal of Aurora, Colorado; Two uncles: Alton Smith Jr. and Barry Don Smith both of Denver, Colorado.
His memory lives on with his cousins: Tammie Moore Parran, Jerry Moore, James Moore, Redale Veal, Myron Veal, Marcel Veal, and Keshia Acker. Numerous extended cousins and dear and best friends Ronnie Jones and Dawud Qadree Ziyad.
Tyrone Smith will be missed by many.

I know that no matter what
You will always be with me.
When life separates us
I'll know it is only your soul
Saying goodbye to your body
But your spirit will be with me always.
When I see a bird chirping on a nearby branch
I will know it is you singing to me.
When a butterfly brushes gently by me so care freely
I will know it is you assuring me you are free from pain.
When the gentle fragrance of a flower catches my attention
I will know it is you reminding me
To appreciate the simple things in life.
When the sun shining through my window awakens me
I will feel the warmth of your love.
When I hear the rain pitter patter against my window sill
I will hear your words of wisdom
And will remember what you taught me so well'
That without rain trees cannot grow
Without rain flowers cannot bloom
Without life's challenges I cannot grow strong.
When I look out to the sea
I will think of your endless love for your family.
When I think of mountains, their majesty and magnificence
I will think of your courage for your country.
No matter where I am
Your spirit will be beside me
For I know that no matter what
You will always be with me.
