Renee “Nay
Nay" Scott
April 26, 1978 – May 27, 2023
Renee Nicole Scott "NayNay"
04-26-1978 - 05-27-2023
Renee Nicole Scott was a beautiful blessing born in Denver, CO, to her parents, Cindi Scott, and Kenny Tave, on the spring day of April 26, 1978. She was the light of their life and anyone else's life that she entered. Renee was the oldest of two children born to her mother and the third eldest born to her father. Being the big sister, she often played mommy to her baby sister Lisa Scott. Renee's siblings would vouch that she always looked out for and cared for them. She was honored to be the mother of her three children, Jahiem, Ja'Nae, and J'Lane… as well as her bonus children, Courtney and Kyrie.
"Nay Nay" and "Nay" were the nicknames she gained throughout her childhood. Nay Nay was known for putting others first and making you feel welcome no matter what. She was courageous, incredibly thoughtful, intelligent, gave the best hugs in the entire world, kept a smile on her face, and, more importantly to her, she'd put a smile on yours.
Renee's smile was infectious, and her heart -- extremely tender, making it easy for others to approach her and return their love. Some of her favorite things to do were cook, color, watch movies, spend quality time with her family and friends, braid hair, be outdoors, read books, and take her children on family adventures. She loved her Sunday Dinners with family and always watched Sunday Night Football if it was on. She was a big Denver Broncos fan and let everyone know it! Nay was the life of the party, and there was never a dull moment with her. To know her was to be genuinely loved and cared for.
Nay Nay was educated in Denver Public Schools, where she attended Stedman Elementary, Morrey Middle School, and East High School — she was a proud graduate of the class of 1996. She attended the Job Corps in Utah and received her Director of Childcare License. She earned her CNA Certification as well. Nay loved caring for others; throughout her life, she nursed and nurtured many people at daycare facilities and nursing homes.
There was no illusion about Nay Nay's divinity. Renee was baptized at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. She never allowed life to get in her way of serving the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nay was a guest and member at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, The Potter's House Denver, and Higher-Level Denver. Regardless of whether she could attend church service or not, Renee praised and worshiped the Lord. Nay Nay loved her gospel music, some of her favorites being "He Saw The Best In Me" and "Never Would Have Made It" by Marvin Sapp.
Renee had an old soul and was always ahead of her time. She was a sucker for her '90s R&B music and had a few modern favorites. Nay's favorite movies were "The Gremlins," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Love and Basketball"; her favorite show was "The First 48". She enjoyed outings with her girls, whether it was to get food, manis and pedis, or even staying in and cooking everyone up a heartwarming meal… Nay Nay was everyone's go-to for a good time. Renee was a true peacemaker and didn't cause conflict in anyone's life… she sure would step in and solve some things, though! If you knew Nay Nay's heart, you knew she was a very uplifting person, constantly elevating others, placing a smile upon their face, and never turning anyone away. If she had it, they had it… and even when she didn't have it, she'd still make a way for others.
The light we know as Renee "Nay Nay'' Nicole Scott will illuminate forever in the lives of her children Jahiem Brooms, Ja'Nae Tennessee, J'Lane Tennessee, Courtney Tennessee, and Kyrie Bowden. Her siblings; Lisa Scott, Kenny Collins, Kardell Collins, and DeShaun Mayberry. Plus, a host of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Renee is preceded in death by her parents, Cindi Scott and Kenny Tave, and her grandparents, Billie & Merritt Scott.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
