Obituary

The game had come down to one last play, there were but ten seconds left on the clock.  The coach had called a Full Court Press with a fast break; the ball was to go to Aurora Central's clutch Point Guard LaDwan Rubin Tucker, better known as "BLUE." Blue had the ball; he was dribbling down court he was fighting a double team. Blue passed the ball to a teammate to eliminate the double team.  The ball was passed back to Blue, the clock hit one second, Blue stops, pulls-up, and shoots defenders jump trying to get a hand or even a finger on the ball to alter the trajectory the crowd is on their feet scouts from Colleges and University are among the onlookers. It seems as if the ball is traveling in slow motion the Trojans' are trailing by two, which equals the amount they need to tie and go into overtime. Finally, the ball makes it to its mark and SWISH nothing but net from downtown a three pointer that wins the game. The student body storms the floor, reverberating Blue…Blue…Blue...Blue stood as Imperator on the court as he was shrouded with laurels.

It was a Monday, an unforgettable day the year, 1977, day, the 8th; on this day, Dwan and Janet Tucker waited for the admittance to this world their Babyboy. Born in Denver, Colorado LaDwan Rubin Tucker will fulfill the thrill and anticipation of his parents, older sister Tonya and grandparents, Thelma Johnson and Kathryn Dunn. One day as his Father Dwan returned from Rose Medical Center, where LaDwan was delivered.  He affectionately called LaDwan "Blue," a name that followed him for the rest of his life.

Growing up as the son of a military family, Blue lived in Aschaffenburg, Germany, and many other places. Moreover, due to his Asthma his mother and both children returned to Colorado, where Blue was educated in the Aurora Public School system. Upon graduating from Aurora Central High School, Blue was ranked as the number two basketball player in Colorado, receiving all-Conference honors twice. This garnished and afforded Blue many scholarship opportunities. Blue was a top recruit. Still, Blue chose to go to North Platte Junior College. The proximity to Denver would allow him to visit home, his family and for them to attend his games. Blue averaged 22 points and seven rebounds per game. However, in his first year of school, his beloved grandmother Kathryn Dunn passed away. While attending her home going; the coach insisted that Blue return to campus that day. When he didn't, he benched Blue. He pulled Blue's scholarship and refused to release Blue, where he had a chance to play for twenty-four other teams.

Blue began to live his life absent from scholastic and pro sports. Blue was a natural athlete playing football for the Pal league Prince Hall because of his uncle Bernard Turner. When entering High School, he found that the bigger boys were laying it on him on the football field. By this time, his sister Tonya started to school him in the art of basketball. Blue took to basketball with ease. He was also one of the "The Tucker Boys" referred to by his grandmother Thelma Johnson. William, Michael Wayne, and MJ were the other three. He fathered a baby girl Kataya LaShawn Tucker who preceded him in death. Years later, Blue returned to college, earning his degree in Medical Coding and Billing. He later worked as a lead at Reser's Fine Foods in Topeka, Kansas, where he relocated a few years ago. Blue liked to cook, loved the Lakers, and the Dallas Cowboys; 2Pac was his boy, and Sade was his girl. Blue defied death on September 1st, 2020; his shot clock still had time on it. Blue was a mild-mannered man, a homebody; that knew the Lord for the pardoning of his sins being baptized in 2010 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church by the late Pastor Henry Miles Jr.

Blue's game clock expired Monday, October 12th, 2020, as he departed from this life. Waiting on the other side is his Daughter Kataya LaShawn Tucker, Father Dwan Wayne Tucker, Grandmother Thelma Johnson, Grandmother Kathryn Dunn, Aunt Francine (Michael) Blade and Uncle William Tucker Jr. Still cheering the life that Blue lived are Mother Janet Tucker, Sister Tonya (Everrett) Dobson, Aunt Colleen (Stephen) Price, Aunt Carlotta (Bernard) Turner, Sweetheart Holly Sayers. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
