Dominic "Dom" Hayes James
Rapper at Heart
22, May 1986 ~ 14, February 2021
Morning has risen, and Dominic is listening to Drake or Kevin Gates. Dominic walks through the house rapping, some of their lyrics and some of his own original, enjoying the day as its begins.
Particular about his appearance, Dominic made sure his hair was neat, and clothes were ready to meet the day.
Dominic was outgoing and loving. His family was most important to him, not just his children, Martin, Nevaeh, Dominique, and Amare.
With four other children, Linda always wanted another boy, and so did Willie, to go along with Nichelle, Shontele, Chanda, and James who were already at home. This would be just another baby to love, and nonetheless, a welcome addition. The appointed hour arrived. It was time to go to Aurora Presbyterian Hospital to deliver baby Dominic Hayes James. Such a handsome lad was Dominic, Willie, and Linda couldn't resist giving Dom his father's middle name. Alas! It was May 22, 1986 at 11:05pm that Linda Flowers and Willie Hayes James welcomed Dominic Hayes James to this earth.
Growing up, Dominic was surrounded by love and doted over by his older siblings and parents. Dominic was spoiled by all.
Attending Annunciation Catholic School in Denver, Colorado, until the fifth grade. He liked many and made friends quickly with his friendly personality. Then middle school commences. There was no way of knowing how these days would mark Dominic's life forever. At Morey Middle School, Dominic met his future wife and mother of two of his four children, Ida. Discovering a love for basketball, cars, and rapping, Dom realized that the world was his playground to explore. As a youngster, Dominic was a rascal, and he stayed in trouble. Linda said, "Dominic had a mind if his own.
Dominic knew Christ as the redeemer, being baptized at an early age.
Atypically, Dominic was laid back, reserved, quiet, and still the life of the party. His energy sparked the room. The smile could illuminate the world. Kindness at heart possibly will fill the universe.
Upon graduating from Manuel High school, Dom entered Barber College to keep his hair looking good and his family and friends too. Yet, that wasn't the end of his knowledge-gathering. Dominic was introduced to the CrossPurpose Program which allowed him to chase his passion for the construction industry. Working as a Construction Laborer, Dominic had his eyes on a much larger goal. One of being an Electrician and having his own business.
After many years elapsed, Dom's cousins assisted with Ida's reunion. On Wednesday, March 1, 2010, Dominic made Ida his wife. On many occasions Dominic would rap the song "Best I Ever Had" by Drake. This became Ida's and Dominic's song, as Ida and Dom began to build their life together and create a family. Ida recalls how when she was pregnant and wanted fries and fruit punch, she would cry. Dominic would ask, "Ida, if you're doing all that crying now, what is the baby going to do." Dominic would go and get the fries and fruit punch, and for that matter, anything Ida would ask.
Dominic was intentional about being a better person for his children, love ones, and himself. The kind of person that was loyal, kind, loving, and genuine. He would give the world if he had it.
Sunday, February 14, 2021, Dominic crossed over that crystal river, leaving a legacy of love and happiness in his wake.
Though it was exceptionally too soon, he answered the call to attend to more important business. His job on earth was done and fulfilled.
Dominic's heirloom of LOVE will live on through Ida, his wife, Martin, Nevaeh, Dominique, Amare bonus sons Kelvin and Harlan. Mother Linda, siblings Nichelle, Shontele, Chanda, and James. Plus, a host of family and friends.
