GOD's Servant

PS: 84:10 For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Carolyn was born in Riverside, California, on March 31, 1955, to the late Albert (Bacon) Walker and Della C Walker. She was the second eldest of seven children and was the only girl. At an early age, Carolyn accepted Christ as her savior, attending St. John's Baptist Church of Lubbock, Texas, with her mother. She also received her early education in Lubbock, Texas, before moving to Denver, Colorado, in 1969 with her mother and six brothers. She furthered her education at Cole Junior High School and later graduated from Manual High School in 1973.

She was a proud mother to her first son, Eric Walker, who she welcomed on January 5, 1969, and her first daughter, Erica Ford, on April 12, 1978. She met Rodney Tate Sr. in 1979 and married on September 8, 1989. Together they welcomed Rodney Tate Jr. on January 10, 1985, and Desiree Tate on June 30, 1988. Carolyn was a devoted wife, a nurturing and all-sacrificing mother who taught her children the value of self-reliance, perseverance, hard work, and family commitment.

Experiencing the full spectrum of life's responsibilities, in 1982, Carolyn started working at The Children's Hospital Colorado as a Staff Assistant I, II, and II conference scheduler. Finally, she retired as a Patient Family Service Specialist on October 29, 2021, after 39 years. Her compassionate personality and love for the Lord radiated the most.

Carolyn belonged to Anchor of Hope Church, where she faithfully served as an usher, choir member, and deaconess. Carolyn always had encouraging words and was known for her powerful prayers. She gained many kind friends and has touched many lives throughout the years.

On March 22, 2023, the Lord redeemed her as His own.

She is preceded in death by her father, Albert (Bacon) Walker; mother, Della C Walker; brother, Edward Walker; 2 sons, Eric Walker and Roney Tate.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Rodney Tate Sr.; 5 brothers, Gregory, Arnett, David, Bruce, and Christopher Walker; 2 daughters, Erica Ford and Desiree Tate, all of Denver, Colorado; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. A host of other relatives and many, many friends.

Carolyn will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts.

Our hearts grieve
Our tears fall
Our arms are empty
Without you here.

The thoughts swirl
Our souls ache
The world seems so lonely
With the loss so near.

The memories whisper
in the sorrow
Comforting our hearts
Reminding us of your love, so clear.

You were a mother who gave
Who always stood strong
Meant the world to so many
Was so incredibly dear.

All our minds cherish you
we honor your memory
Our love will always remain
and in our hearts, you're still here.
