Brett Hernandez Baldivia

February 15, 1971~ February 8, 2024

Greetings, enthusiasts of the extraordinary cosmos of Brett (Big B) Hernandez Baldivia.

Journey with us as we peel back the layers of an exhilarating opulent existence of a son, father, brother, grandfather, pool-loving, poker-playing, fun-loving, lighthearted, storytelling clumsy butcher.

Brett's story begins on the 46th day of 1971 during the winter season in Colorado. Brett was the only child born to Alice and Fidel Hernandez. Alice later gives birth to Chad Baldivia. Still, love would expand as Alice married Mario Rodriguez, whose son Dennis Rodriguez became the oldest of the three boys. Alice and Mario produced Michaela Rodriguez, who completed this family unit. Even though there were other siblings, these four grew up together, culminating in a lifelong love bond.

Brett grew up and was educated in Denver's Bear Valley neighborhood, attending the "prestigious" John F. Kennedy High School. Brett's muse in school, thanks to Sgt. Clever, was his dedication to the ROTC program where he met some of his lifelong friends.

Upon completing high school, "Big B," as he was lovingly known by family and friends, lunged directly into adulthood, finding occupation in the arena that would be his life story and journey. He started off cooking, one of his greatest passions and even worked as a Grocery Store Clerk, yet Brett's prowess with meat allowed him to specialize in the intricacies of being a Butcher.

There became a new chapter in Brett's life when he and his wife, Stepheni, produced two magnificent children, Zoe Baldivia and Gabe Baldivia, although their union was short-lived. Zoe and Gabe became the center of Brett's life until his grandson, Daniel Nascimento II, was born, and Daniel became Brett's paramount focus.

As Brett shared his stories, his loud, roaring voice would cascade so everyone nearby would hear the tells. Many of the versions would be embarrassing accounts of his children Gabe and Zoe. Then, moving and embraced his own growing up as a child with some of the antics of his nights on the town as he frequented his favorite watering holes such as Greenfields Bar and Grill, the Cuckoo's Nest, and the Doghouse Tavern. Often, Brett would be heard saying, wanna grab a beer? Brett would enjoy shooting pool and playing cards. Brett had his own lavish style of self-expression, and wearing his lime green Vans was his signature look.

Brett was a food aficionado. He loved to eat, yet he would unabashedly critique dishes that lacked flavor style or were not pleasing to the taste buds. As a cook from a young age, you can imagine that he preferred his own cooking to anyone else's, especially when he prepared a big pot of Posole for his family and friends. Brett was a fan of the CSU Rams, enjoying the university. Regarding music, Brett prides himself on the latest trends. This showcases his unique understanding of the ever-changing pop landscape. Brett takes credit for discovering and finding the Arctic Monkeys Group.

In life, Brett's mode of transportation was his feet, or whoever would give him a ride, and RTD, and he was always fashionably late; still, once Brett arrived, he was the life of the party.

The life and legacy of Brett "BIG B" Hernandez Baldivia was a fleeting canvas that faded away too soon. Moreover, his life will forever be stellar in the hearts and minds of those he left behind. His children Zoe Baldivia (Daniel) Nascimento, and Gabe Baldivia. Grandson Daniel Nascimento II, Parents Alice and Mario Rodriguez. Siblings Dennis Rodriguez, Chad Baldivia, and Michaela Rodriguez. Plus, a host of other family and friends.
