The Fisherman

Bart-Holly S**T, is it a BROWN?
Rance-no it's a RAINBOW…you barely have it hooked.
These are the words that the angler Bart Tompkins with his son Rance as he methodically and patiently reeled in the
biggest fish he had ever caught. If you want to see a smile on Bart's face, give him the icing on the cake or out of the
container, get him out on the lake, and just move out of his way. Bart was a man who never took himself seriously, yet he
took everything he did seriously. He was a man who took care of his family and was unapologetic for doing so.
Born Monday, March 01st, 1965, in Madisonville, KY, to the Reverend C. Bobby and Sharon Tompkins. Bart was the
youngest of two sons, with Roger being the eldest. Raised in a Christian household at a very young age,
Bart accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, being baptized at the Mt. Gideon Baptist Church in Slaughter,
Kentucky. Being the son of a minister, travel as part of their regular day-to-day experience moving to Denver Co in 1970,
where Reverend Bobby became the pastor of Grace Baptist Church.
The school was in session in 1983 when Bart met Ann, the love of his life and the woman who became his wife and the
mother of his children, at Adam City High school, the same place he Graduated from. Bart and Ann courted for two years;
they would go to Godfather's and Shakey's pizzas the drive-in theater, but most of the time, they could be found in church
worshipping the Lord and savior.
Bart and Ann were married on June 29th, 1985. Building a family with their two sons Rance Aaron born in 1994 and
Tristan Nathaniel born in 1997.
Bart was a big Denver Broncos fan; he liked basketball, played the Shooting guard position, and played exceptionally well.
Still, fishing was his most immense love and thirst outside his wife, children, and grandchildren.
As a simple man, Bart worked and retired as a forklift operator for Safeway grocery store and distributing center. Even
after retiring, he decided to go to work for the Johnson auto Plaza delivering parts. He was not one to sit; Bart had a lot of
energy for work.
Bart had a sweet tooth; he pursued candy and sweets with passion. Bart loved Halloween because he knew that Ann
would buy bags and sacks of candy, and Bart would sneak and eat most of the candy before the kids came around trick or
treating. Moreover, Bart loved the corner of the cake where most of the icing would be or the center of the cake where
there would be a flower, which means there was an icing pile on top of the frosting, and he would just love to eat it.
Bart hated vegetables and leftovers, and he really didn't like to go out to eat because of the price Bart would be turned off
and would have to be forced to order something even when his sons were paying for it.
When Bart wasn't fishing at Miracle Mile Lake, you can find him watching Godzilla movies, The Commandments every
Easter. The Kentucky Wildcats and finding Bigfoot. Bart was lighthearted and a jokester. He had no problem doing
everything with pride and excellence; he was proud to be the number one poopy scooper in his home. Bart's pride and
joyfulness the thing that brought him more love and cheerfulness in the world was his granddaughter Eliana, and he was
so looking forward to the birth in October of 2022 of his grandson
Ezekiel Aaron Thompson would tell everybody that he had a grandson coming and was just delighted.
It was Monday, June 12th, 2022, When Bart passed as a happy man not suffering from a long illness. It was his time to
reunite with his parents and grandparents, who preceded him in mortality.
We can never love someone as much as we will miss them. The life of Bart Tompkins will forever echo in the lives of
those he leaves behind.
His wife, Ann E. Tompkins, and his sons, Rance Aaron (Brenda) and Tristan Nathaniel. Granddaughter Eliana. Brother
Roger Tompkins. Plus, a host of other family and friends.
