Wilma L
Ross
Jan 24, 1952 — Aug 21, 2026
Denver
Wilma Louise Ross was born on January 24,1952 in Atchison KS to Madge and Naymon Ross Sr. Wilma was the ninth child of eleven. In her youth, the family attended Zion Baptist Church, where she was also baptized.
Wilma graduated from Atchison High School in 1970, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Prep Club. After high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Vaughn. From their union, they welcomed two children, Erica and Jason.
Later in life, Wilma met her then life partner, Leonard Jones Sr. and together they welcomed her third child, Leonard Jr.
Wilma loved sports and especially her Broncos and Nuggets. She had no problem with defending the Broncos against anyone that disagreed with her feelings. She also loved family gatherings. Her family was most important to her and she didn’t mind going out of her way to help or take care of those that needed her.
Three highlights of her days were talking to her family and friends. She made sure to talk with her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews daily, but she also has plenty of time to call all of her kids and adult grandkids 100 times a day, each. She would also call friends of her kids too. Nobody was off limits.
Over the course of 54 years of living in Denver, Wilma worked for a variety of companies, where she developed many long lasting friendships. She also made friends with neighbors, whom she loved.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Madge and Naymon Ross Sr., and two of her sisters, Lillian Barnette and Loretta Jenkins.
Wilma is survived by a large, loving family that includes eight of her brothers and sisters, Winifred, Naymon Jr., Rosetta, Barbara, Steve, George Sr., Gene and Wanda; there children, Erica, Jason and Leonard; eight grandchildren, JaShaun, Terrence Sr., Allajawaun, Jason, Lamarie, Lorenzo, Loyell, and Lamayah; eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
