Obituary

Willie "Louis" Hodges, II Obituary
Willie Louis "Louis" Hodges, II, age 43, entered eternal rest on January 12, 2026. He was the beloved son of Willie L. and Delois A. Hodges, who nurtured him in faith, love, and perseverance.

Louis began his education as a toddler at Alethia Christian School, where he continued through the eighth grade. In 1996, he became a Charter Member of the inaugural class at the Charter School of Wilmington (CSW). During his four years at CSW, he excelled academically while also playing varsity soccer and varsity basketball, sports that reflected his lifelong passion for physical activity.

After graduating from CSW, Louis enrolled at the University of Delaware to study electrical engineering. He later discovered his true academic path and transferred to Goldey-Beacom College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in computer science. He worked with several employers in the New Castle, Delaware area before pursuing graduate studies. His love of learning led him to the University of Connecticut, where he completed his master's degree in computer science.

Louis eventually made his home in Denver, Colorado, drawn by his deep love for snowboarding and skiing. The Rocky Mountains became his playground, offering year-round opportunities to enjoy the sports that energized him. His active lifestyle extended beyond the slopes—he played with local men's soccer teams, coached goalkeepers for a girls' traveling soccer team, and faithfully maintained his routine as a dedicated "gym rat" several times a week.

Louis was preceded in death by his grandmothers: Eva L. Hodges and Anna E. Garnett, his aunts: Edith V. Cornish and Cythia Hodges, and his uncle: Gene E. Hodges.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents: Willie and Delois Hodges of Bear, DE; his aunt: Verna Waters of Newark, DE; his brother: Shaun Waters of Baltimore, MD; his sisters: Donna Clayton (Clarence) of Townsend, DE, and Dr. Kenya Hodges-Thomas of Boulder, CO. He is also remembered with love by his cousins: Monica Perkins, Venus Perkins Frinks, Laurie Fields, and LaToyia Robinson; his nephews: Paris L. Waters and Clarence F. "Chum" Clayton (Jenaya Furrowh); his great-nephews: Paris L. Waters Jr.; and Cayden E. Clayton; and his great-niece: Paridyce L. Waters.

Louis' life was marked by curiosity, courage, and a joyful spirit. His family and friends will forever treasure the memories of his laughter, his generosity, and the adventurous heart that carried him from Delaware to Connecticut to the mountains of Colorado. Though his earthly journey ended too soon, his soul rests safely in the presence of the Lord, and his legacy lives on in all who loved him.

Services for Louis will be held privately.
