William Ervin Lipscomb was born on January 2, 1948, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Lavert Walton and George Lipscomb. William was the kind of person everyone loved. He always wore a smile and had a warm spirit that made others feel welcome. His presence could light up any room, and his genuine care and compassion for others were felt immediately by all who knew him.
William was a faithful servant at his church, Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, for more than 20 years. During that time, he served faithfully as a deacon, trustee, and in countless other capacities wherever he was needed. His dedication to both his faith and church family was unwavering.
He attended Manual High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy for four years, from which he received an honorable discharge. Following his military service, William attended Emily Griffith Opportunity School to earn his diploma and later pursued a career in welding. Throughout his life, he worked in several professions, including driving for Yellow Cab and serving as a bail bondsman. He eventually joined Denver Parks and Recreation, where he remained until his retirement. William enjoyed sports and movies, but his greatest joy came from spending time with family, friends, and his church community. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and unwavering love for those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lavert Walton and George Lipscomb, and his sister, Doris Twiggs.
William is survived by his beloved wife, Rosa Turner Lipscomb; his children, Yolanda Michelle Lipscomb, Tishelene Renee Lipscomb, Tiffany Turner, and Ulysee Kinder; his brothers, Granville Lee, Lardell Lee, and Danny Rae Lee; his sister, Mae-D Lockett; his grandchildren, Michael Patton, Tyrone Patton, Tavaris Lipscomb, LaShayla Padrone, Natasha Padrone, Davionte Padrone, Kayla Biggerstaff, Taylor Rae Turner, Ladaysha Taylor, Aaliyah Taylor, and Quincey Brooks-Turner; six great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Lee and Stephanie Lee; his brother-in-law, Vollie Lockett; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
William's life was a testament to faith, service, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.
