Obituary

Weldon Bruce McCoy was born on February 9, 1952, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Willie Lee & Arma Lee McCoy, he was the 2nd born of six children. He attended Kennedy junior high school and Douglas high school in Oklahoma City, OK. In his early years he worked as a paper boy for the Oklahoma City Times newspaper and as he grew older, he developed an interest in working on cars.

In his early adult years Bruce attended Denver Automotive and Deisel College and became a mechanic. Later in life he attended Lavonne's Beauty Academy and graduated as a hair stylist and worked in salons locally in Denver, such as Phase II Beauty Salon; a few years later he opened his very own shop, "Bruce's Hair Design" located on Montview Blvd in Aurora, CO. He later relocated the salon to E. Colfax Ave. Bruce was an entrepreneur "aka" hustler and sold dinners on the side and for a while he was a cab driver.

Bruce obeyed the Gospel and was baptized into Christ in 2007, at the Park East Church of Christ, 3500 Forest Street, Denver, CO 80207. He seemed to love attending church events that served food (lol). He loved shooting pool, spending time with his friends, watching soaps such as "General Hospital" which he renamed "The Luke & Laura show." His favorite movie of all times was "The Godfather, parts 1&2!"

Most of all Bruce loved to talk, bragged about himself and was quite the conversationalist! One of his favorite things to say was, "They call me Bruce!"

Bruce departed this life on August 2, 2025, while in HCA Health One Mountain Ridge hospital emergency room. He is preceded in death by his siblings Ayisha Wilcots, Torris Sherman McCoy, Derrill Dewayne Jones and son, Halston McCoy (Tammy D.)

Bruce was married to Tamara McCoy. Leaving those to cherish in his memory, his children: Angelo Valentino McCoy (Michelle), Nahfia McCoy (Mary Ellen a/k/a Punkin), Angell McCoy (Lana), Idell McCoy (Sherry),Tiffany McCoy (Tamara), Ladonna Banks (Robin), Talaya Foy (Tamara), Bruce McCoy, Jr. (Tamara), Torris McCoy (Tamara) and Craig McCoy (Tamara). Siblings: Mary McCoy (Denver, CO), Sharika Browne (OKC, OK), Craig McCoy (Ogden, UT), Tracy McCoy (Tucson, AZ) Shelia Jones (Denver, CO), Ronald Lee Jones (Denver, CO) and Carless Jones, Jr. (Denver, CO). Nine grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, many family members, and friends.
