The Military man
Some things are just destined to be. Take Staff Sergeant Terry Donnell Evans; he was born into a military family in a military town on Veteran's Day. The writing was on the wall. Being a patriot, Terry enlisted in the US Army immediately after graduating from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He made a career out of it, and after serving with valor and distinction, he received an honorable discharge after almost 20 years of service, achieving the rank E7.
It was the fall season in 1965. In Colorado Springs, Colorado, when snow was falling, the temperatures outside might have a crisp chill to them, a time when flyovers to honor this nation's brave men and women who served. Trees are going to sleep, crops are being harvested, and flags are being flown to show how proud our nation is. On a Thursday, Veterans Day 11, November, Terry graces this world with his presence, being the oldest child born to Sherman Terry Evans and Ollie Hopson. A baby girl named Michelle would join this family, later making it complete. As life would have it, however, Sherman and Ollie went their separate ways, and Sherman fathered another baby girl named Larissa. However, Terry and Michelle would receive three bonus brothers from their father's new union. Darrell, Darwin, and Dwayne McDonald.
Terry himself became a father to a baby girl by the name of Terina Evans. Upon the death of her mother, Ronda Terry became a single father, raising young Terina into womanhood.
Once completing this military assignment, Terry returned to Colorado, where he primarily worked odd jobs in construction.
Terry was close with his cousins Yvonne Daley, Gregory, and Antonio Dersno. They were close enough to be siblings and had an unbreakable love for one another.
You can often see Terry smoking a fat cigar and listening to music, anything from the old 60s and 70s R&B to Snoop Dogg in the modern era; he worked hard and was fun, loving, and easygoing. Therefore, Terry played hard. The Denver Nuggets and the Dallas Cowboys were his favorite sports teams. Terry enjoyed hanging out, playing cards and dominoes, and drinking beer.
Terry departed from this world on 9 January 2024. He left an unchangeable mark on the world and the hearts of those he left behind. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Terry Evans and Ollie Hopson. Also, his bonus brother Darrell McDonald.
Yet, the spirit, the soul, and the light known as Terry Darnell Evans will forever glow in the lives of those he loved and who loved him. His daughter Terina Evans, sisters Michelle Evans and Larissa (Jerome) Trapp, and bonus brothers Darwin McDonald and Dwayne McDonald. Beloved cousins Yvonne Daley, Gregory Dersno, and Antonio Dersno. And a host of other family and friends.
