Sizwe
Jafta
March 10, 1981 – January 14, 2024
Sizwe Jafta was born in March 10th, 1981 in Sidney, NY. He tragically passed away on January 14th, 2024 at the age of 42.
Sizwe graduated from Pretoria Boys High School in 1999 and decided to explore his opportunities in New Jersey, USA in March 2000. He started in pharmaceutical sales in Montclair, NJ from 2001 to 2017. Then, in 2017 he moved to Denver, Colorado and continued in the pharmaceutical sales field until his passing.
During his time in New Jersey, Sizwe also attended Essex County College part time and transferred to Rutgers University, majoring in journalism and minored in business administration. He volunteered at WBGO 88.3 FM jazz station where he gained valuable experience in broadcast journalism, media sales, and administration.
Sizwe loved music. Although he came of age in the era of R&B and hip-hop, he loved exploring the creative process behind fusion and jazz; often investing in sound equipment to hear the fine nuances of a particular song. Along with music, Sizwe was also an avid photographer of nature and city scapes. He took many trips to New York City to capture the people and nature against the gritty city backdrop; often capturing sunsets between city blocks and nature through the cracks of concrete.
He was a smart, talented and loving soul who brought joy to so many people's lives. He lived his life with dignity, integrity and tremendous courage. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, acquaintances, and all who knew him.
Sizwe is survived by his father, Lizo Jafta and his two older sisters, Nale Jafta and Thembi Machaba.
A private ceremony to honor his life will be held in South Africa.
