Ramon Antwan Wyke
The Traveling Man
December 8, 1978, ~ November 28, 2021
"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise.
Its five-year mission, to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations .
To boldly go where no man has gone before!"
The intro to Star Trek television series and movies best describes Ramon Antwan Wyke's life.
A free spirit traveling about enjoying life, plus all the wonders life offers.
Seventeen days before Christmas in Columbus, Ohio, late fall Marie Antoinette is in labor. She and Terrence Anthony Johnson are on pins and needles as they approach Mount Carmel hospital to await the arrival of their baby boy, Ramon Antwan Wyke. This was an extra special day because it was also the birthday of Father Terence Anthony.
Once Ramon entered the world on Friday, December 8, 1978, the lives of his parents, Terrence Johnson and Marie Wyke, changed. The sun was bright, the birds' songs were sweeter, flowers were more brilliant the snow and the cold didn't matter. They're a ray of sunshine had arrived. Ramon was a precocious lad with curiosity, always exploring and looking to see what the world had to offer. Educated at Hillcrest High School in Dallas, TX, and graduated from the Job Corp in McKinney, TX.
Ramon was a free spirit willing to try new things, new occupations. Rather, he was mixing paint, running forklifts in warehouses, or perhaps working as a security agent. Ramon could be found willing to try it all and make an honest living.
Ramon loved traveling across the United States, seeing every city and state; he really enjoyed trucks and attending sporting events.
Never been married or had children of his own. Ramon's greatest joys were his niece and nephews and spending time with them. He was the oldest of his siblings, brother Ramel and sister Stacy. Ramon was big on family and the love they all shared. Like the Starship Enterprise, Ramon's life made its final voyage in Denver Co on November 28, 2001.
As Ramon reached the other side, there to greet him were his; his favorite niece, Aevyn Rayel Wyke, his maternal grandparents John R. Wyke and Mary H. Wyke, great grandparents Joe (Mirtis) Hillard, his great paternal grandparents Alexander Bondurant and Thelma (Nana) Bondurant and Great Uncle Walter Bondurant and Great Aunt Thelma (Tootie) Bondurant, special Aunt Barbara Walker.
"We can never Love someone as much as we will miss them."
Ramon's life will echo throughout eternity in the lives of the people he loved and who loved him!
Ramon survived by his mother Marie Wyke, his father Terrence (Cynthia) Johnson, brother Ramel (Apryl) Wyke of Honolulu HI, sister Stacy Hamilton of Desoto TX, Grandmother Evelyn Johnson of Columbus OH, nephews Aiden Mosby, Ramel Hall, Camden Wyke, and Bryson Wyke. Great Uncle Donald Bondurant, Aunt Kimberly Johnson, and Uncle James (Timmy) Johnson Jr. God daughter Nijha Furr.
I only have a picture now,
A frozen piece of time,
To remind me of how it was,
When you were here, and mine.
I see your smiling eyes,
Each morning when I wake,
I talk to you, and place a kiss,
Upon your lovely face.
How much I miss you being here,
I really cannot say,
The ache is deep inside my heart,
And never goes away.
I hear it mentioned often,
That time will heal the pain,
But if I'm being honest,
I hope it will remain.
I need to feel you constantly,
To get me through the day,
I loved you so very much,
Why did you go away?
The angels came and took you,
That really wasn't fair,
They took my one and only Son,
My future life. My heir.
If only they had asked me,
If I would take your place,
I would have done so willingly,
Leaving you this world to grace.
You should have had so many years,
To watch your life unfold,
And in the mist of this,
Watch me, your Mum grow old!
I hope you're watching from above,
At the daily tasks I do,
And let there be no doubt at all,
I really do love you.
