Ovatria Ann Hollins was born January 5,1935 in Cherokee County, Texas. The fourth child of seven born to the union of Herbert A. Cox and Lavice Jones Cox. She attended school in Odessa Texas for her early childhood education. She then started her career. Becoming a licensed Beautician and a seamstress/ dress designer. While working as a seamstress in a dress boutique in Odessa, Texas Ovatria was offered an opportunity to go to Europe and model, but her parents would not let her go.
She was an amazing mother to Gloria, Lisa, Slyvia, Ann, Vern Easter. She was also a loving wife to Willie Lee Hollins Jr. for 60 years. She started a new career with SAMSONITE Corporation. Where she retired in 1997 after 30 years. She dedicated her life to Christ by her service to the Kingdom.
Ovatria Worked with the Colorado Christian Home for Children as a volunteer. She was an office Treasure for several years for the Sister Ministry. She also taught Sunday School for over 20 years, under the ministry of Bro. Leroy Durley at Josephine St. Church of Christ, Park East Church of Christ under the ministry of H.R. Stevens/ Willie Gray and Higher Ground Church of Christ under the ministry of Bro. Jerry Groves. In 2002 she was recognized as the Outstanding Sister of The Year. She attended and served in several Lady's Day programs in and out of state. She attended Lectureships National and Regional. She even served on the Visitation Team Ministry visiting those at their homes, nursing home and hospitals.
She loved teaching and showing her grandkids how to live right. They would go with her on a variety of adventures. She loved cooking, knitting, and sewing. She was known for her homemade Banana Pudding and quilts.
Ovatria Ann Hollins departed this life on June 12, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Hollins Jr., her parents, Herbert A. Cox Sr. and Lavice Jones- Cox, her siblings, Herbert Cox Jr., Waddel Cox, Laverne Rand, and Fadell Cox,; Stepdaughter, Patricia Hollins- Black, and her grandson, Billy D. Jackson III
Leaving those to cherish in her memory, her caregivers her daughters, Gloria Ellis, Lisa Jackson (Billy) both of Denver, CO,; her compassionate niece Charlotte Rand of Denver, CO,; Sister -n-law Elva Hollins( A Special Jewel) of South Chesterfield, VA,; daughters, Vern Easter of San Francisco, CA, Ann Boyd(Larry) of Portland, OR and Sylvia Williams (Kenny) of Atlanta, GA,; Loving Sisters, Bettie Okonkwo of Arlington, TX and Cleopatra S. Callaway (Howard) of Odessa, TX; 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren,; step-daughters, Willie Rose Owens, Myree(Peaches) Frazier Ranita Graham of Dallas, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, many family and friends.
