Nancy Ann Lewis

Saturday, January 01, 1944, ~ Monday, December 05, 2022

Allow me to reintroduce myself. I am Nancy Ann , and this is my story...

There's a new day and a new year. Saturday, January 01, 1944, wintertime in historic Birmingham, AL. The average cool temperature of 33° while yet in the Pruitt home, there was a fire burning the house, and hearts the warmth was caused by the expectations of a new family member me. Woodie and Marie prepared for their firstborn child. The birth of Nancy Ann Pruitt and a beautiful child that Woodie and Marie couldn't resist giving the baby the name Nancy, which means "Filled with Grace." Our family waited in suspense about whether a son or daughter would join the family. Moreover, the family prayed for a healthy child.

Momma and Daddy had Me, Ronald, Donald, and the twins Cherry and Sherry.

I loved the sunrise, the birds singing, and the sharpness in the air. From my kitchen, the fresh aroma of cookies, brownies, and cake fills the house as Willie and the twins Angela and Andrea start their day. Once again, I have taken the time to do one of her favorite things baking.

I was educated at Birmingham Public School before moving to California, where I attended Crompton high school and Crompton junior college.

I met the love of my life, the man who would be my husband for 57 years. Willie and I were married on the 28th day of February of 1965. With Willie, my life was full of adventures, travel, and fun.

There was nothing I loved in this life more than my journey of motherhood. My children were the LOVES of my life. Like my mother, I gave birth to twins Angela and Andrea. My girls are me, the many reflections of me.

I love them so much; they're my legacy of love! My only hope for them is to be happy in whatever journey they choose! And to know that no matter what, I am so proud they chose me to be their mother. With Willie and the twins, my life was complete.

I was always up for new adventures, and Willie made a career in the military. Therefore, we traveled worldwide, lived in different countries, and explored new cultures as a family; we enjoyed being together.

Spending my early days as a homemaker when I finally went to work, I made a career with the Department of Defense Finance Center in Aurora Co at the Lowry Air Force Base. For the next 20-plus years, I helped to balance the books, working my way up to supervisor over my division and department. Upon retiring, I returned to being a homemaker.

I had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord, and I was baptized early. As a family, we attendant service at the Chapels at both Fitzsimmons and Lowry Air Force Base.

On any given day, you would find me Crocheting and Macklemoring while listening to R&B old-school playlists, including but not limited to Al Green, The Temptations, Teddy Pendergrass, and The Stylistics.

Monday, December 5th, 2022, I crossed that majestic river where my father and mother, Woodie and Marie, and my brother Ronald were there to greet me, playing Old School R&B.

One could never LOVE someone as much as one will miss them. Nancy's life will echo through eternity in her Husband, Willie's lives, and the twins Angela and Andrea. Siblings Donald and the twins Cherry and Sherry And a host of nephews and nieces.

"A Million Times a Million"

A Million Times, a Million times we'll miss you, a million times we've cried.

If love alone could have been saved, you never would you have died.

In life, we loved you deeply, and in death will love you still.

In our hearts, you hold a place no one can ever feel.

It broke our hearts to lose you, yet you didn't die alone, for a part of us went with you the day God called you home.

Rest in Paradise."
