Obituary

Spiritual, philosophical, analytical, and conversational are a few words to describe Monie O'Neal Law Jr.

A man that never met a stranger and who was a fighter and survivor.

Monie could have a conversation with people he didn't know as if they were old friends.

Monie was known for his old soul and even his wisdom at a young age.

This particular Saturday, the sun was high in the sky; snow was on the ground, and a chill in the air. Janelle was visiting with Grandma Rosa in the Park Hill neighborhood in Denver. When all at once, she felt this pain shooting through her back. Being with her grandmother, she wasn't too concerned. Yet, she called her Mother, Donna Mims, who urged Janelle to contact her physician. The doctor suspected Janelle was in labor, and six hours later Monie O'Neal Law Jr. arrived.

Oh, what a joy he was a breath of freshness, tears of joy, and calls of gladness filled the air.

Monie was doted over by the family, the firstborn child for Janelle and Monie Sr. Firstborn great-grand and grand. Ellis, Rosa, Travis, and Lavetta loved on Monie.

Growing up, Monie was precocious and intuitive, loving to spend time with his remarkable grandparents, where he was taught the ways of life.

As time would have it, Monie was given names of affection, "Fat Boy," and Mont Mont.

Monie had a battle with a giant at the tender age of six, a real Samson & Goliath tale. This colossal enemy invaded his small and young body with Leukemia.

Being the fighter he was, he conquered cancer as any young boy should.

Sitting in his room drawing or writing rap lyrics was one of Mont Mont's favorite things to do, only second to spending time with family. Hanging out with his brothers, sister, cousins, or nephew would just light up "Big Boss," Monie's ultra-eagle.

Monie O'Neal Law Jr. lived life his way, having a deep understanding of self-cleaning and being one with self, nature, and God.

Mont Mont was working on being one with nature by hiking, camping, and inspecting the great outdoors. He was balanced and grounded, very straight forward and to the point.

The sun was shining; there was a nip in the air and snow-covered the ground in Denver, Colorado, on Friday, January 22, 2021, when Big Boss Monie, Mont Mont, drew his last breath. Monie left a legacy of love for his Mother Janelle, Father Monie Sr. Sister Daijaha, Brother's Ray'Ahjay, and Ja'Monie. Plus a host of relatives and friends.
