Obituary

Leonard R. Dixon Sr.

August 6, 1943 ~ September 27, 2023

It was late summer on a Friday, the 216th day of the year. John Dixon Sr. and Irene Robinson were expecting their sixth child. The Dixons had been blessed with five children already. The question that resonated would be whether another boy that would join John Junior, Donald and Kenneth, or another girl to join Carol, Delores,June and Helen. When the appointed time arrived, it was a bouncing baby boy born on the 6th day of August 1943. John and Irene named Leonard would be the sixth child that would be born into this union, making this a happy home of ten full of love.

Leonard was educated in Denver Public Schools, where he attended Whittier Elementary. Cole Junior High graduated from Manual High School.

Leonard made a career as a manufacturing tech working for Nokia until the time of his retirement.

Leonard's first marriage was to Diniece Chapman and out of this union he became a proud father to his son Leonard R. Dixon II and his daughter Carmen Linnett; being a man of integrity, wisdom, and love, he had the pleasure of being the bonus father to Gerald Tribble and Sondra Tribble, the son, and daughter of his confidant, heartthrob, his lover and best friend Betty J. Dixon.

Leonard and Betty were married in December 1989. Together the pair would travel to various places to include California, Las Vegas, Alabama. They've even taken a few cruises together. They attended Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Martin and later the Ebenezer Baptist Church under the guidance of Pastor DeWayne Moore. Although Betty preceded Leonard in death, their love would continue in Leonard's heart.

Leonard loved all the Denver sports teams, especially the Denver Broncos. He was delighted with the Denver Nuggets, rooted for the Colorado Rockies, and was intrigued by the Colorado Avalanche. He was delighted to watch the Denver Broncos win three Super Bowls, and the Avalanche win three Stanley Cups, and was blessed to watch the Denver Nuggets bring home their first world championship in 2023.

Even more so than Denver sports teams and enjoying sports, Leonard loved attending the family reunions, the backyard family barbecues and overall holiday and celebration parties with his family. He loved barbecue, eating soul food, and drinking his Miller Lite beer. Lastly, he was known for his sense of humor, which was contagious and goofy all at the same time.

On September 27, 2023, Leonard was reunited with his love, Betty J. Dixon, his son, Leonard Dixon II and his daughter, Carmen Dixon, his mother and father, John A. Dixon Sr., and Irene Robinson Dixon. His sisters; Delores Taylor, June Marie Walton, Carol Bruce; His brother, John Jr.

Yet his life will be treasured in the lives of those he lives behind. His Children Gerald Tribble, and Sondra Tribble-Bentley(Sean). 3-Grandchildren; Jamaul I. Dixon, Leonard A. Dixon, Asia T.
