Korey Wilson
October 24, 1982 ~ April 28, 2023
Scholar, Intellect, Historian, Laureate, Researcher, Avid Reader, Video Game Enthusiast, and Bible Academic.
At a young age, Korey could wear the titles and the tags of the eight synonyms above.
Equally Passionate and aficionado about each of them.
Sunday, October 24, 1982, was the 297th day of the year; in Pueblo, Colorado, the high temperature was an unusual 77° with the low temperatures in the 40s. And this could easily be explained by the beautiful ray of sunshine, the warmth brought into the world by the name of Korey Wilson on that October day.
Born to parents Eugene and Johnnie Wilson, Korey was the fifth son born into this family.
With older brothers Royce Carter, Eugene "Tiger" Wilson, Keenan Wilson, and Keith Wilson, there were plenty of adventures to be had for a young boy. Later three bonus sisters were added to the family Sherise Chism, Sherita Chism, and Shontae Clemente.
The Wilson family moved to Aurora, CO, where Korey received his primary education attending Yale Elementary School, Columbia Middle School and graduating from Rangeview High School. While growing up, Korey and his cousin Maurice were inseparable. Still, while in school, Korey met and became Lifelong friends with William Anderson as Clint aka Billy Clint, Jamar Durst as 50 aka Fifty Woda, Brendan Newton as Sky, Christopher Frye as Note aka C-Note, Daniel Schlachet as Jew Steeze aka Steeze, Peter Sirivathanateichakul as Crack aka Petie Crack, and Aaron Johnson as Doc 4 Play aka Doc.
Korey was a very astute student reading anything he could get his hands on while enjoying the pleasures of being a youth. Korey was a natural athlete playing basketball, baseball, and running track. When he wasn't exercising his athletic skills, he would enjoy playing video games; still, he found time to read any number of science fiction books such as the Star Wars series, Games of Thrones, and others. Korey enjoyed watching sci-fi movies Star Trek Star Wars, Transformer series, and loved Anime just to name a few. Furthermore, growing up, Korey was quick to have a pickup basketball game at any time; plus, he loved fishing and bowling with his father and developing a genuine love for nature.
Upon entering Arizona State University, Korey begins his intense research of the Bible, the origins of the writers of each book, the writings of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the philosophy behind each translation of the Bible. While studying and exploring theologies, Korey then developed a bottomless appetite for African and African American culture learning Africa's true influence in modern day religions. Korey was not one that you would want to have a debate with about the Bible and African American people, although he eager to educate those with less information. Korey was well-learned on these topics. It's easy to say that Korey wasn't only a religious man but a profoundly spiritual one. Being well-liked, easy to converse with, and able to build a relationship while in college once again, Korey met and established permanent friendships with Richard Sok aka R'ah, Ivan Wilcox aka On Won, Martin Murriel aka Strikk, Justin Michael Rafael aka Belize, and Josheph Cipolletti aka Cipo.
After school, Korey went to work with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Korey Graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Business Administration and African American Studies. Korey made life in Tempe, AZ. He created a career with Bank of America as a Mortgage Loan Officer. Assisting all families with achieving the American dream with prominence, assuring that black families and people of color were afforded it the same opportunities. Korey was an avid traveler, he was fortunate enough to travel all over the US as well as countries like Canada, Puerto Rico, Aruba, and Mexico.
It was a blistery day in Tempe, AZ, on Friday, April 28th, when Korey drew his last breath and faded into internal life.
Korey will now be reunited with his father (Eugene "Petey" Wilson) in the afterlife.
Moreover, Korey's life will reverberate in the hearts and minds of those he left behind.
He leaves a family full of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other friends, family and honorary older brothers to carry on his Legacy.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
