Karen Noreen Black, beloved wife, mother, family member, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Karen faced her illness with remarkable strength, dignity, and perseverance. Through the difficult days of her journey, she remained surrounded by the love of those who knew her best and cared for her deeply.
Karen shared her life with her devoted husband, Robert Wood Jr. Their marriage was built upon love, companionship, commitment, and the many experiences of a life traveled together. Through life's celebrations and challenges, they remained partners, creating memories that Robert will carry with him always.
Karen was also a loving mother to their son, Madison Parker Wood, and her family was an important part of the life she built. Her presence, guidance, love, and the memories she created with those closest to her will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
Those who loved Karen will remember much more than the illness she endured. They will remember the woman she was throughout her life—her personality, her strength, the things that made her laugh, the people she loved, the traditions she created, and the countless ordinary moments that, in retrospect, became extraordinary simply because she was there.
Cancer may have marked the final chapter of Karen's life, but it does not define her story. Her story is found in the years she lived, the people she loved, the family she helped build, and the lives that are different because she was part of them.
For Robert, the loss is immeasurable. Karen was not simply his wife; she was his companion and partner through the years. Although her physical presence is gone, the life they shared cannot be taken away. It remains in memories, photographs, conversations, family traditions, and in all the ways their lives became intertwined.
Karen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert; her son, Madison; her family; her friends; and all whose lives she touched.
Her long struggle has ended, and she is now at peace.
Karen's life mattered. She was loved. She will be remembered.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever a part of those she leaves behind.
