Fermin Lucero
Jr
May 8, 1949 – April 13, 2024
Fermin Lucero
May 8, 1949 ~ April 13, 2024
It's summertime on a Sunday afternoon, Fermin, Elvera, and their three grandchildren that they were raising, Alberto Holguin, Destiny Holguin, and Marisa Salazar, pack their lunch into the car. They headed for Eldorado Springs in the Bolder area of Colorado, a ritual and a tradition that took place every Sunday until the children grew up and became adults.
This is a story about a man who served his country in two capacities: a man whose heart was full of love and who would give his last and the shirt off his back, a man who fed the community who took in children who weren't his blood to provide them with a better opportunity in life and to make sure that they had food to eat. Mr. Fermin Lucero was this man.
Born in Colorado on Sunday, May 8, 1949. Fermin was educated in Colorado, too.
Fermin enlisted into the army during the Vietnam War. He served his country valiantly with honor and allegiance. Moreover, his tour of duty changed him. He saw a disturbing side of people and changed his entire outlook on life. After Fermin completed his tour of duty, he returned to Colorado, where he met the love of his life, Elvera Sanchez. There were four children between the two of them; he became the bonus father to her her daughter as she became the bonus mother to his two sons and one daughter. The family grew off of love, decency, and veneration. Fermin and Elvera spent over 40 years together. The authenticity of love was resilient, and in 2010, Fermin and Elvera exchanged nuptials. This did nothing but solidify their family unit and love for one another. Fermin and Elvera's union lasted until death did them part, April 13, 2024.
Although they had 10 grandchildren, three were incredibly close, for they raised them from infancy until adulthood. Alberto Holguin, Destiny Holguin, Marisa Salazar. Brittney, Brandni, Brielle, Brianna Lucero. LaDae Sanchez, Elijah Sanchez, and Santana are the other grandchildren. Some may say that Fermin loved his Great grandson Joshua "JJ" and his pit bulls, Fat Boy, Anevay, and Calhoun, as much as his children and grandchildren.
Fermin provided for his family by working for the United States Postal Service (USPS), extending his service to our nation. He was also a freelance welder, working on different projects. Fermin received an early retirement due to an injury; however, this never stopped him from enjoying life, his family, and the things that he loved most.
Fishing and camping were a couple of adventures Fermin relished, and yet his Sundays were spent in Eldorado Springs with his Elvera and his grandchildren Alberto, Destiny, and Marisa.
Fermin liked boxing, but his love for music was undeniable. Fermin was a musician; the guitar was his instrument of choice. He formed a band, and the opulence of their collaborations' melodious sounds was pleasing to the ears. Fermin enjoyed oldies, and yet he was a renaissance man when it came to music. Whatever was popular, he played and enjoyed.
Fermin loved people and animals. In fact, he was a lover all the way around. Fermin loved spicy Mexican food and would give his last to whoever needed it whenever they needed it—that's just the type of man Fermin was.
If it's early spring in 2024, Fermin passed from this planet on Saturday, April 13.
Moreover, his legacy of love will thunder through all eternity in the lives of those he loved and who loved him. Elvera, his wife. His grandchildren are Alberto Holguin, Destiny Holguin, Marisa Salazar Brittney, Brandni, Brielle, and Brianna Lucero. LaDae Sanchez, Elijah Sanchez, and Santana. His great-grandchildren Joshua "JJ", and Cameron. And, of course, beloved Pit bulls Fat Boy, Anevay, and Calhoun.
