Elvin L
Parrott
December 11, 1952 – May 9, 2026
Elvin L. Parrott, known to many as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, peacefully passed away on May 9, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado. Born on December 11, 1952, in Norman, Oklahoma, Elvin lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and a profound love for family and community.
Elvin's early life was shaped by deep roots in Oklahoma, where he received his education in Noble and Norman. As a high school football player, he was always a protector—not just on the field, but in life—standing up for friends, family and those in need with a steadfast resolve. Proud of his heritage, Elvin embraced his mother’s Osage Native American lineage with reverence, choosing to honor this connection by changing his middle name to Lonewolf. This was a testament to the respect he held for his culture and ancestors.
Elvin answered his country’s call by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in Noble, Oklahoma, where he served honorably as a Military Police Officer, Security Specialist and Canine Officer during the Vietnam War era. His commitment to service was a defining chapter of his life, reflecting his enduring sense of duty and protection.
Following his honorable discharge, Elvin made Denver, Colorado, his home, where he continued his life's work at Presbyterian Hospital as an operating room orderly, tending to critical needs with care and precision. In his later years, he found joy in working for RTD Access-A-Ride, taking pride in providing safe and dependable transportation for the elderly and disabled. Through these roles, his hands—ever skilled at fixing, repairing, and caring—served as tools of compassion and community.
Elvin’s uncanny ability to repair and build was not just a talent but a bridge to love. It was during the completion of a basement bedroom, 37 years ago, that he met and fell in love with Adrienne. Elvin's friends and family recount how Elvin often said how blessed he was that God joined he and Adrienne together, and how much he loved her. Their union was marked by a beautiful blending of lives and hearts. With warmth and kindness, Elvin embraced Adrienne’s children from a previous marriage, seamlessly transitioning from friend to father, and delighting in moments spent together in nature. The legacy of his care extended to all who crossed his path.
Elvin’s home was a place of laughter, music, and mouthwatering meals. He was the undeniable master of the grill during family gatherings, where his love of food, especially desserts, was well known and joyfully shared. He would often ask Adrienne to make him his own Peach Cobbler, so he didn't have to share. Motown music filled his days, and though his singing was earnest if not flawless, it was always heartfelt. When quiet reflection was needed, he found solace on his Honda Goldwing, the hum of the road a comforting companion.
His personality radiated a unique blend of strength and humor—a strong, quiet presence at first meeting. His dry, sarcastic wit soon emerged to lift the spirits of those around him. His laughter, warm and genuine, had the power to fill any room, gracing every heart with joy.
Elvin never forgot where he came from, spending some of his formative years in foster care himself. He and Adrienne shared a profound gratitude for the journey that brought them together, with her role as a foster parent allowing them to provide a loving home to many children. His pride in these accomplishments was immense; one child placed in their care expressed it best in an essay: “I’m in a place now where I can grow up and be somebody.” Such impact speaks volumes of Elvin’s compassion, strength, and hope.
Elvin is lovingly remembered by his wife, Adrienne Parrott; their six sons—Raymond “Ray”, Anthony "TJ" (Dawn), Christopher (Stephanie), Michael, Jeremy (Crystal), Matthew; five daughters—Omayra (Rickey), Latevia, Brianna, April, Ayrika; and 14 cherished grandchildren—De’Onna, Mikayla (Phil), Landon, Kyndree, Lyric, Christopher, Charlotte, Samson, Giovanni, Eva, David, Nadia, Selah, and Mayra. Although they were no longer with them, Elvin held warm memories and dearly loved his heart children, Charlie J., Corey A., and Ima (Mariah). He remembered the many foster children that came through their home over the years. He is also survived, and will be missed, by his brothers - Don (LeeAnn), Andy, his nieces Eunice, Amy and their children.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dessie M.; father, Harvey A.; brother, James; and sister, Mary.
The family honored his wishes that there be no formal funeral services. A cremation service was held on May 11, 2026, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at Marshall's Mortuary & Cremation Service, located at 3900 Magnolia St., Denver, Colorado. A family graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date.
Elvin L. Parrott’s life was a testament to quiet strength, loving service and the enduring power of family. His legacy of care, humor, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a guardian, a guide and a gentle soul who enriched every life he touched.
