Deborah Jane
Williams
December 17, 1949 – February 22, 2025
Deborah Jane Williams transitioned from this life on February 22, 2025, after 10 years of surviving a debilitating stroke. Born on December 17, 1949, to James and Cora Williams in Irvington, New Jersey, Deborah lived a life filled with love, laughter, joy, and creativity.
Deborah had a humble yet idyllic childhood in New Jersey alongside her 8 siblings. Her home was filled with love and connection and Deborah always found time to create memories with her beloved sisters, brothers, and friends in the community.
While growing up, Deborah discovered a passion for the arts. As a child, she explored self-expression through song, dance, creative writing, illustration, and all other artforms.
After graduating high school, Deborah attended college at Essex County and thereafter, became a certified x-ray technician and had her three children, Coley, Cora, and Malik. Raising her children gave Deborah purpose – she loved them fiercely and took every opportunity to instill values of education, service to others, and a love for the arts.
In the late 80's, Deborah felt the itch to explore a new frontier and moved to join her sister Sarahin Colorado. Deborah worked several jobs in Denver, always finding ways to indulge her entrepreneurial spirit. Simultaneously to fulfilling her full-time obligations, Deborah spent her time after hours producing an animated TV show, in which she shamelessly wrangled her children and grandchildren to perform the voice overs for the "Shapes and Other Things" characters. Later on, while working at a credit union, she sold a collection of traditional New Jersey-style cuisine, including italian hot dogs, sandwiches, and much more in a food stand to George Washington High School students. Deborah always found a way to balance pursuing her interests with ensuring that her family had what they needed.
Deborah's passion for the arts also resulted in several self-expressive projects. In addition to the TV shows she produced, she also penned multiple novels (including "The Dial"), wrote many children's songs, and created hand-made decorative wedding and memorial booklets.
Loved ones will remember Deborah as a tough, determined, smart, artistic woman with an infectious sense of humor and a talent for cooking. She is survived by her sisters Carrie, Sarah, and Hilda, sons Coley and Malik, her grandsons Nigel and Nathaniel, and many friends and family whose lives she touched deeply.
