Cecelia A.
Mims
January 2, 1956 – November 10, 2024
Cecelia Ann Mims, affectionately known as Nunny, was born on January 2, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, to Stanley Mallard and Florence McDuffie. She attended Denver Public Schools, graduating from East HighSchool in 1974. After high school, Cecelia continued her education at the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Denver, where she earned her bachelor's degree in business administration in 2000. Later in life, she attended Emily Griffith Technical College, where she earned her Esthetician Certificate.
In 1974, Cecelia pledged to Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and participated in the prestigious Debutante Ball. She was also the proud Head Drill Master for Denver's very own Escoolite Drill Team.
Cecelia's love for her family was unparalleled. She was known for hosting memorable family gatherings—game nights, birthday parties, and Sunday dinners. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion touched the lives of many, and she became a mother figure to countless others.
A woman of many passions, Cecelia loved dancing, fishing, softball, traveling, and gardening. She was always eager to share her knowledge and life experiences with her loved ones. During her time with Clay Love, Cecelia also invented and secured a patent for the "Kneader Bag," a creative and innovative product that reflected her entrepreneurial spirit.
Cecelia was also known for doing things her way—always putting her personal touch on everything. One memorable example was her beloved "Christmas in July" celebrations. She did it her way and was happy to host a holiday celebration in the summer, bringing joy and festive spirit to her family and friends at an unexpected time of year. It was just one of the many ways she made life special for those around her.
Though she was known for her dedication to family and hard work, Cecelia also had a deep, personal side that was equally important to her. She practiced Buddhism, a path that brought her peace and spiritual fulfillment. Additionally, Cecelia had a great love for country music, and she came from a musically inclined family.
