Carol Ann Reagan-Heru (affectionately known as RoRo) was born on April 7, 1969, in Denver, Colorado, to proud parents Timothy Payne and Janie Butler. She peacefully transitioned on May 10, 2025.
Carol was a proud product of the Denver Public School system and a graduate of East High School. Her passion for healthcare and advocacy led her to earn a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and Gerontology from Metropolitan State University, followed by a Master of Science in Health Care Administration/Management from Regis University. Continuing her commitment to learning, she recently earned a Customer Experience Certification from the University of Colorado Boulder in April 2025.
Carol was a solution-driven professional who dedicated her life to ensuring equal access and fair treatment for all. Carol was a solution-driven person who was passionate about making sure people had equal access and fair treatment as she lived her passion by being employed at Denver International Airport as an ADA & Title VI Administrator.
Carol was a proud "Ruby" member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Beta Rho Sigma Denver Alumnae Chapter since the spring of 1993 (inducted in Gamma Omicron). She served in numerous roles and executive board positions. She consistently exemplified the sorority's commitment to "Greater Service, Greater Progress" within the Denver Metro community.
She was deeply committed to community service, volunteering faithfully at the Rose of Sharon Food Bank every third Saturday and serving as Board Chair for Adam's Purpose Grief Awareness, Advocacy & Support. Her leadership extended to her roles as a board member for Developmental FX, Board Chair for the Bennie E. Goodwin After-School Academic Program, and a dedicated committee chair on the Colorado Governor's Advisory Council for Persons with Disabilities.
RoRo had a heart of gold, but nothing made her heart happier than on September 4, 2004, when she married Mika El Heru and gained two bonus daughters Traci Young and Aisa Young. In 2009, her life felt complete with the birth of her beloved son, her "son-shine," Amari Heru.
RoRo loved cooking and spending time with family – so much so that she and her siblings and cousins called themselves the "Backyard Gang," a testament to their deep bond.
Carol will forever be in our hearts and leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Carol will be remembered by her father Timothy Payne, mother Janie Butler, husband Mika El Heru, son Amari Heru, two bonus daughters Traci Young, Asia Young. Her sister Aiesha Ashby, brother Kareem Butler, granddaughter Taylor Hill and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
