Barbara Gianopoulos Doherty, 79, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, in Breckinridge, Colorado. Born on May 8, 1946, in Sanford, Maine, the daughter of John and Denise (Scontsas) Gianopoulos. Barbara lived a life marked by hard work, dedication to her family, and a commitment to education and personal growth. Barbara pursued her academic aspirations at Endicott College in Boston, Massachusetts. 

Her family gave her the foundation for a life of purpose. She had a successful career in retail sales and had just completed an assignment in El Paso, TX, shortly before her death. Above all, Barbara was a loving and caring mother who cherished her family. She is survived by her daughters, Olivia Hunter (John) and Margaret Doherty; her granddaughter Erin Hunter; her brother Christos Gianopoulos (Christine); her nephew John Gianopoulos; and many cousins. Her devotion to her loved ones was unwavering and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. 

Barbara’s memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life. May her legacy bring comfort to those who mourn her passing. There will be a service in Maine at a later date this July.
